Introduction to the Cosmos and Our Place in It

From Galaxy to Cells

Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida has put up a very interesting page on their site. It begins as a view of the Milky Way Galaxy viewed from a distance of 10 million light years and then Zooms in towards Earth in powers of ten. 10 million, to one million,syllabus.html. to 100,000 light years and then it finally reaches the smallest parts of the cells of the leaves of an oak tree.

Sit back and imagine how perfect our universe is!

Once you click on the site, the software does all the work. You can play it forward and backward to be amazed over and over. At the end it says AUTO….click on that and review the process in
reverse!

Lazlo is amazing and his work find it here!!!

Watch DVD:  Basic Ideas from the Michael Dowd, Evolutionary Christianity Class 1 DVD

Cosmology is going through a scientific revolution that is creating humanity’s first picture of the universe that might actually be true.

In the new scientific picture, we are cosmologially central and we live at a pivotal time.

We have the choice today (or not) to find meaning in our extraordinary place in the Universe.

Listen to Audio:  Basic Ideas from the Michael Dowd, Evolutionary Christianity Class 1 DVD

Science can enrich, strengthen, and deepen faith. The great work of our time is insuring a just, sustainable, and life-giving world for future generations of all species and to further what the creativity of God has been up to for 14 billion years.

The entire Universe is held in the heart of God – 14 billion years ago, the Universe exploded from the heart of God and has been expanding ever since.

The universe is not static, it is evolving and expanding.

Things are transforming in a direction — (Holmes would say the direction of more life.)

Humans are the Universe becoming conscious of itself.

Option 2 – Run Horizontal Header under Image then do 3 separate vertical boxes

Class Two Concepts from Lazlo, Chapter 3

1. Matter may owe its very existence to interaction with the vacuum.

2. The vacuum is the most fundamental field of the Universe. according to vacuum theorist. It “glues” quarks, stabilizes atoms, stabilizes solar systems, and creates mass as well as the forces of inertia and gravitation.

3. Vacuum does not oppose or hinder out movement, so we no more know it than a fish knows water.

4. If the expansion rate of the early universe had been one-billionth less than it was, the universe would have recollapsed almost immediately; and if it had been one-billionth more, it would have flown apart so fast that it could produce only dilute, cold gasses.

5. Some scientists attest the existence of a meta-universe of Metaverse, a vaster and possibility infinite cosmos that was not created in the Big Bang, nor will it come to an end when our universe vanishes in the collapse of the last galaxy-sized black hole.

6. The black hole of this universe is the white hole of other universe; it is the Big Bang that creates that creates that universe.

7. Evolution of universes first physical, then physical-biological as now, and eventually physical-biological-psychological universes. Consciousness is likely to become increasingly dominant in the cosmos.

8. Life on Earth arose nearly four billion years ago, and since then it has been evolving inexorably.

9. Long-term memory is not stored in the brain, but in a holographic field the embeds the brain and the body.

Hologram: Holograms are photographic images that are three-dimensional and appear to have depth. Holograms work by creating an image composed of two superimposed 2-dimensional pictures of the same object seen from different reference points. Holography requires the use of light of a single exact wavelength, so lasers must be used. In reflection holograms, the kind of holography that can be viewed in normal light, two laser beams and a photographic plate are used to take an image of the object. When viewing any object, the human eyes each receive a distinct image, from slightly offset reference points. The brain combines them into a three-dimensional image. The hologram produces the same effect artificially.

10. The brain has two modes of processing: Classical (linear )and quantum. Quantum is fast, can hadle much information at once, operates outside of conscious awareness, and is activated when classical processing is deactivated. For, example, in prayer and meditation.

11. Consciousness likely infuses all things in the cosmos.

Consciousness: Awareness

Class Two Concepts From the Michael Dowd, Evolutionary Christianity DVD:

  • Until 1924, scientists thought the whole universe was just our Milky Way
  • The nature of reality is nested creativity like “From Galaxies to Cells” link at the top of this page.
  • There is a creativity in matter.
  • Guidance of God consists of feelings, circumstances and relationships
  • Death in the heavens makes life on Earth possible.
  • A mistake about creation will result in a mistake about God.

Class Three Concepts

From the Lazlo Book:

Chapter 4

  1. Things are not passive and insert, but self and co-evolving.
  2. Good and evil appear whenever an evolutionary process reaches a LEVEL of consciousness where real choice become possible.
  3. Consciousness is likely to be universal in the cosmos.
  4. We humans do not merely act, but act in an autonomous and conscoiusness way, a way that can be considered good or evil in view of its impact on ourselves, and on the world around us.
  5. Coherence empowers evolution in the universe and in human world.
    1. Example: a healthy mind promotes a healthy body and a healthy body promotes a healthy mind.
  6. EVERYTHING we do either promotes or hinders coherence.
  7. Because of coherence, past-life experiences constitute access to the holographic vacuum-traces of another person’s consciousness.
  8. Consciousness continues after death
  9. Consciousness evolves like a TV — refining from the chaos that comes through the screen as static and refining into a picture and sound

Chapter 5

  1. Our experience of the world interacts with the world but does not create it.
  2. Reality may be like a precious diamond – it has many facets. We only get the human experience-able facet.
  3. There is more to the humanly accessible facet of reality than we can see, taste, or touch.
  4. Belief in the consistency and coherence of the world is a fundamental pillar of science.
  5. Even the reality disclosed at the leading edge of contemporary science in not the last word.
  6. Physical reality is an evolving, instantly and enduringly interconnected fundamentally integral universe embedded in a dynamic and physically real cosmic medium.
  7. The vacuum is the fundamental medium of physical reality.
  8. New physicists now consider that space is the fundamental medium of the cosmos.
  9. The vacuum field most likely has the properties of a superfluid — a medium in which particles, atoms, and other objects move as fish through water, with a subtle and hardly evident effect.
  10. When things move through this superfluid medium, their movement makes waves.
  11. The wave medium, the cosmic vacuum in which the waves appear, is the single source of matter and natural law in the universe.
  12. All that we perceive as material are really complex waves in the quantum vacuum of the cosmos.
  13. The evidence for reality’s spiritual dimension is in our own consciousness
  14. Consciousness originates in the quantum vacuum
  15. The quantum vacuum is the modern name for what the Hindus called “Akasha”

The Furrows of Reality Essay

  1. The Hindu idea of Akasha resembles the contemparay idea of space, space-time, and the loftier dimensions.
  2. The Akashic records are the imprint of the Self on the eternal, universal, electromagnetic atmosphere of primary substance.
  3. Consciousness is the ground of all being.
  4. The universe is structured more like a great mind than a physical realm.
  5. All creation is informed, interconnected, and of an informational rather than a material nature.
  6. People might actually be unknowing participants in creation.
  7. Even the arrow of time may be a synthetic imposition on an underlying timeless reality.
  8. Human beings are the only organisms on Earth who perceive the inevitability of their own death.
  9. With concepts such as the A-field, the meeting between science and spirituality i finally coming to pass.

The Metaverse Story Essay

  1. The entire metaverse is engaged in a perpetual dance of involution and evolution that begins in the domain of pure potential.
  2. The Metaverse then involves itself in its own creative play by brining into being a recurring cycle of universes from big bangs to crashing crunches.
  3. The Metaverse in timeless, time began in our Universe with its big bang.
  4. The A-field is a permanent and complete record as well as the source of all energy and information – everything that has ever happened.
  5. We live in a “born again” universe composed of information and energy handed on to us by the A-Field.
  6. Deep reality consists of Information, Consciousness, and Energy.
  7. AT its deepest level, the physical universe is a nonlocal quantum field and all connected at a very deep level.
  8. Originally, the word “hierarchy” referred to sacred relationships.
  9. Actualization hierarchies optimize potentials at all levels — the whole serves the parts simultaneously as the parts contribute to the whole
  10. Each part of the metaverse is integral to the whole, including you and me.
  11. Chaos and systems are embedded in each other all the way up and all the way down.
  12. The Metaverse is a never-ending story.

From the Sagan DVD

  1. Everything on Earth and in the Universe follows the same patterns, the same natural laws

From the Primack DVD

  1. We are at the center of time
  2. Don’t have to be a scientist to understand where you are in the universe
  3. Practice living consciously in the universe
  4. Without consciousness, there is no universe
  5. Today is cosmologially special – optional time for cosmological observation
  6. There will never be so many visible galaxies
  7. We are at the midpoint of the life of our sun
  8. We are living in the middle of the best period of Earth
  9. This is a pivotal time for the human species, it is our choice
  10. We and our planet are made of stardust
  11. 99 1/2% of the universe is not visible
  12. Different forces are important on different size scales
  13. Stardust is rare, not insignificant

Illustrations from the Primack DVD

From the Dowd DVD:

  1. Faith and trust are synonymous, beliefs are the opposite
  2. Chaos leads to the next level.
  3. We are the universe becoming conscious of itself
  4. Guidance consists of feelings, circumstances, and relationships
  5. First tier consciousness I am right and you are wrong
  6. The next level of first tier is necessary to keep the level under it in check
  7. Second tier consciousness encompasses all of time, all of space — our differences are a solution to our problems — is trust in the chaos, trust in the destruction
  8. Shift from democracy to biocracy — all in the best interest of the natural as well as human world
  9. Just as our bodies need different cells, humans need our diversity
  10. Evolution is like a conversation
  11. Our technology assists us in living in a mutually enhancing way with nature
  12. We need to live, govern, and act in second tier consciousness
